1915-1916

In 1915-1916, the Peter the Great Sea Fortress artillery barracks were built on the land expropriated from Dunten’s summer estate.
On April 3, 1919, the new Estonian Republic established a military school in the buildings of the mighty barracks complex.
On the territory of the military camp of Tondi there were: red brick barracks, officers’ casino, “White House” or auditorium, staff building, sauna house and hospital, tennis courts, shooting ranges, a warehouse of small arms and various smaller auxiliary buildings.
Today, this quarter has become a new era residential and business quarter, developed by US Real Estate. In the first stage two office buildings, Tammsaare 56 and Sõjakooli 6, were completed. In the second stage (2024-2025), the quarter was supplemented with two premium class apartment buildings – Park Tondi Residents. The Sõjakooli st 1 building is the last, but architecturally most important piece of the Park Tondi quarter.
